It's rather disappointing to say this and things must change i am afraid...
(THIS POST IS A PUBLIC WORK IN PROGRESS & WILL BE EDITED)
Its been 4 months since sales went global on iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay and Spotify, clearly i bootlegged my own first 3 albums on a couple of very popular russian soundtrack forums (yet that's not the stuff being used and abused) And after 4 months i now have enough statistics to see the sales results "which are actually zero besides test purchases i had done to see if it was legitimate & it is" So besides older reverbnation sales, no one is buying my material... That said i am hearing a lot of it being used on youtube...
I want you guys to ber in mind how dead set i have always been against using music publishing & causing legal headaches, i also want people to ber in mind i even created a new youtube with "Subscribe Only" and over 400 pieces of music for use in your movies (that has gained zero subscribers, besides MANY people using the free 14 day trial to download tracks with a grabber then canceling the subscription before the 14 days end) This IS Music that i am hearing in youtube videos, yet those tracks have never sold, nor has anyone paid the $2.99 for the access and downloads they had.
People are also using the music i upload to my TheWraith517 channel and my Soundcloud and Reverbnation pages and i am gaining nothing (which in moral land that doesn't actually bother me.... Except for one massive problem) People are making actual money off videos with my music in while i am making nothing, and haven't even asked me for permission "besides 2 people" who i said yes to btw and offered them the 320kbs mp3's to work with... Ive done my best to make my stuff the cheapest their is around, the most diverse stuff ever made (by one musician) score, trailer, songs, drones, sfx, fillers... And folks are sadly kinda taking the pi... with my generosity...
Now some are indirectly making companies money (and making nothing them selves) This is something i am trying really hard to change.. because I AM MORAL!!!! They are earning a company money off their video because someone else's music is in the video (so they can't make ANYTHING from that upload)
But i could... AND I COULD SHARE IT WITH THE UPLOADER.....
maybe you've seen that "is this a cover, you may still monetise this video" that pops up sometimes on your uploads...
Others have just directly monetised the video (with my music in) and are earning money off it because youtube has no fingerprint of that work (tunecore have had finger prints from the beginning to protect my work) Only revenue is not enabled on any track at all, their just uploaded/printed through sentric to save anyone stealing my work.
With my works now scattered around iTunes, amazons servers, spotify and googleplay, i do have the power to enable it and back up my legal claims to my work when people attempt to dispute it....
I Am Entering a music publishing deal, something i have tried my damnedest to avoid since i began, but ive clearly been left no choice by people on youtube and daily motion. This however "could" be in your interest if you have videos you CAN'T monetise because of a 3rd party... See as a share holder in your upload (if it has my music in it) i have a legal say in the content, that allows me to let you earn from it using a 3rd party site called audiam, this is something these other company's "whose work you used, WONT let you" now they just lay claim on the video and your left in limbo then with an "acknowledged claim" on the video...
But what if you could acknowledge the claim and earn money? I mean come on.. if you spend an hour working on a video then loose all rights to it because it has a piece of movie music in the video or a piece of movie or tv footage & they lay claim to it.. i mean you'd never dream of monetising that anyway would u? But what if you could? What if you could earn money from a "Mash Up" ??
If my musics in that video somewhere, then i am willing to split the add rev content with the video uploader, note the more 3rd party stuff you use, the less we all get unless views go viral ... (BUT) "IF YOU" have already monetised the video it'll go to a claim you must acknowledge and will no longer be monetised. Then to make money from the video you will have to sign up on a site and give them the name of the track and the URL to your upload (unless you have contacted me and asked me directly about licensing a specific track, then you where warned from day one that things will change down the line) NOTE that the company i am using is in its infancy but is run by two people who founded a very big site, so this is a reputable team. So for now you can't really earn anything with your adsense and my music (unless you licensed the track from me, and no one ever has)
NOTE in reference to the 2 people i allowed usage of my tracks (those tracks haven't been uploaded to audiam, and i will chat about white-listing their videos down the line WAY BEFORE i even consider uploading those tracks) but note they are still a favor, no legal contracts where given and also note that one of the people who did ask permission and was granted it "did in fact upload the video 4 days before they where replied to with permission" I hold all the cards here
I WILL edit this post and announce when the "earn off my music" is available...
if you upload content that contains even 1% of your
own material or even ya fkn time spent making it,,, you should be able to earn off it
(if other fkrs are) right?
Also remember.... when you have kids and you don't own something like facebook.. you try to leave an Earner behind.. rather than a set amount.....
This is an opportunity i am going to give users of my music.. and you should ber in mind..
i don't actually have to.. i am choosing to...
Welcome to my blog, i put a lot of time into varied projects and ALL the lurkers just block ad's.. Time is money.. I could go out and get a real job.. But that wont leave me time to make things for the unappreciative fans in the circles i create things for.. Go buy an album or something.. help a struggling artist feed his family..
